Copywriting is about putting the right words in the right order to engage and communicate with a specific audience. Do I really need a copywriter?
It’s true. No one knows your business as well as you do. And if you have a good feel for words you’ll be able to write your copy to a certain standard. You’ll find my rates are cheaper than an agency. I work from home and I don’t have massive overheads so I can keep my rates down. You’ll work directly with me, the boss lady meaning you’ll get consistency, high quality work and personal service. As a freelancer I also have more control over my time meaning as well as being cost-effective. I’m also time-efficient.
What experience do you have?
Even as a schoolgirl I loved writing, creating and expressing myself with words. As an adult I’m degree educated and I’ve qualified through the Institute of Copywriters. I’ve worked in a variety of industries and I’ve written professionally for a range of businesses including parcel distribution, tourism & leisure and social media training. How do you work?
We’ll start by agreeing the cost, terms and timescale of your work. Once these fundamentals are agreed I’ll take a detailed brief. You’ll receive my briefing form with a list of questions designed to draw out the key pieces of information I need to create your copy. I’ll look at your business with fresh eyes and explore the who, what, where, why and how.
I’ll start with a blank sheet of paper and create some ideas and concepts. This will develop into a first draft which I’ll share with you. You get to comment and tell me what you like and which bits you want to tweak. Then I’ll use your feedback to re-work and polish the draft until we’ve agreed a final version. Remember your price includes unlimited reasonable revisions to ensure you are happy with the finished product.
What information will you need from me?
The more information you can provide, the better your final copy will be. I’ll quiz you, ask detailed questions and probe to elicit the tidbits that will make your copy work. I’ll be interested in seeing any existing marketing materials, testimonials, customer letters, statistics, press releases etc. And indeed anything else you think will be of value. How much will copywriting cost?
Each piece of work is different so I don’t have a standard price. Instead I’ll draw up a bespoke quote for every project that reflects the amount of time needed to complete the job. All quotes are free of charge and you are under no obligation.

I can give you a quote per hour, per word, or as most customers prefer a fixed all inclusive fee. This means you know what you are committing to and there are no nasty surprises. I’m also happy to work on a retainer basis and layout a work plan to cover a commitment of work over a number of months. Basically if you want to work together, we can discuss a way that best suits you and your business needs.
What is content marketing?
Content marketing is when you create and publish information that doesn’t have a direct sales message. Content marketing covers a range of different formats including blogs, articles, White Papers and case studies. The benefit of content marketing is it enables customers to read about your business without being pressured to buy. The benefit to you is you get to be perceived as an authority in your niche, and when customers need your product or service, they will come to you. What is your availability?
Although I live in Plymouth I can work with you wherever you live in the UK. That’s the great thing about the internet, Skype and email. I don’t necessarily work normal office hours because my clients often don’t. Instead I’m flexible and can adapt to suit your requirements.
How quickly can you write my copy?
This totally depends on what you need. Depending on my existing workload I can turnaround a rush job in a few hours, although larger projects that need detailed research will take longer.
However if you tell me what you need, I’ll do what I can to achieve that for you.
What if I change my mind about what I want?
My quotes include all reasonable revisions and tweaks. It’s important you get what you want and sometimes your ideas will develop and mould when you see my drafts. You might identify new things you want to say, or decide that actually that point wasn’t important after all.
If you do decide to significantly change the scope of the project, we’ll review the work and if necessary I will quote a revised fee. If you decide to cancel the job, a severance fee may apply.
What about confidentiality?
When we work together it’s likely we’ll discuss information you’d rather keep contained. I take confidentiality very seriously and would not unknowingly do anything that would compromise this. If you’d like further reassurance, I can sign a confidentiality agreement.
